Jonathan Marshall is a Michigan-born classical guitarist and composer. He is the Director of Guitar Studies - Professor at Grand Rapids Community College, where he also operates the GRCC International Guitar Series and leads both the GRCC Student and Community Guitar Ensembles.
An active performer, Jonathan appears as a soloist and as a member of the Grand Rapids Guitar Duo and Grand Rapids Guitar Quartet. As a composer, he has written numerous works for solo and chamber classical guitar, with his compositions published through Guitar Chamber Music Press.
Jonathan’s musical journey includes studies with esteemed guitarists and educators such as Brian Morris at Grand Rapids Community College, Carlos De La Barrera at Grand Valley State University, and Professor Clare Callahan at the College-Conservatory of Music, University of Cincinnati, where he earned his Master’s degree. He has also participated in master classes with world-renowned artists, including Manuel Barrueco, Denis Azabagic, Ana Vidovic, and Oscar Ghiglia.
